Instead of skiing some of the leftover pow that had fallen earlier in the week, Ava and I went down to Virgin for the 6hrs in Frog Hollow and some hiking in Zion NP. The race consisted of a 13.5 mile loop that utilized the JEM trail and surrounding double track, where racers had 6 hours to complete as many laps as they could (last lap must be started by the 5th hour).

The camp scene |
Unlike most races, we had a Le mans-style start that had us running 100 yards to our bikes. Luckily, Ava was kind enough to hold the bike up for me.

Finally in the saddle |
The course was way fun, and well suited for the rigid singlespeed. I could've done without the damn cow ruts though.

I don't even like green |
On Sunday we hoped to do the Subway bottom-up hike in Zion, but unfortunately didn't get drawn for permits. Instead we hiked Observation Point, which provides spectacular views of Zion.
